Why talentless people like justin beiber are more famous than REAL music? i know what you're going to say : "if you don't like him don't listen to him"
well that's the frikin problem, he's everywhere. and people who actually play real music are in the streets, i mean, in music contests, such people who go sing their heart out with nice metal and rock lose to people who sing hallow hip-hop and similar genres
there are a lot of good amateur rock/metal bands on youtube but little pussy justin beiber gets picked up
i'm going to be honest, i like every genre, including hip-hop (but only the songs that actually talk about how somebody loves and fights for it. although the songs would be better if they had a fast rythm)
i think that their fame comes from people who think thy're good looking and stuff, but back in the day of good music, nobody cared what the artists looked like, and when they finally revealed themselves, the people would go "dude, is that really the guy who plays the song that everybody likes? he's not what i was expecting. but oh, well, his music is cool so i'll listen to him anyways"
it might be just a matter of a trending genre or something like that
but oh well... | He is everywhere. O.o
I went to an amusement park & when I left, a song of his was playing.
The Bieber Fever is driving me mad! Can we escape it?
The U.S. should deport him back to Canada. | Do you think James Gandolfini could become an established actor in film instead of just "Tony Soprano"? Now, don't get me wrong. The Sopranos is, in my opinion, the greatest TV Show in the history of Television or shows. ("Firemen gettin' pussy for the first time in the history of fire or pussy.") And that series alone makes James Gandolfini one of my top ten favorite actors. But, and I can't stress this enough, he *needs* to have a strong film career to show off his versatility and acting chops. He doesn't have many film achievements thus far (True Romance, The Man Who Wasn't There and 8MM are probably the films he is most notable for..), but the future could establish him as respected film actor, and not just Tony Soprano.
First of all, he has Cinema Verite. A project directed by Robert Pulcini (American Splendor), and he will be acting alongside of Tim Robbins and Diane Lane. "A behind-the-scenes look at the making of the first American family to be the subjects of a reality TV show.".
After that, he is reuniting with Sopranos creator David Chase for a film called Twylight Zones, acting alongside of Christopher McDonald and Brad Garret. "Set in suburban New Jersey the 1960s, a group of friends form a rock band and try to make it big.".
Next, he is working on a project with Philip Seymour Hoffman and Meryl Streep under the direction of somebody I'm not too fond of, David Frankel (Marley & Me). "After thirty years of marriage, a middle-aged couple attends an intense counseling weekend to decide the fate of their marriage.".
Then (how does he have time for all of these!?), he is co-starring in the film Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, with Tom Hanks, Sandra Bullock, John Goodman and, Max von Sydow. The project will be directed by Stephen Daldry (Billy Elliot) and written by Eric Roth (Forest Gump). "A nine-year-old amateur inventor, jewelry designer, astrophysicist, tambourine player and pacifist, searches New York for the lock that matches a mysterious key left by his father when he was killed in the September 11 attacks."
Finally comes the film I'm most looking forward to; Cogan's Trade. All I have to say about this is, look at the cast, and look at the director. www.imdb.com/title/tt1764234/
So, in closing, do you think these films will break him away from his Sopranos fame a bit? What do you expect from each of these films? | I'd really be fine with it either way... I'd love to see him in some great films and establish himself as a "Hollywood actor," maybe even get a few Oscar nominations. That would be great. But if he doesn't, I wouldn't be mad. I saw Michael Imperioli do an interview, and I remember him saying something like "if The Sopranos is the only highlight of my career in the end, I'd be completely fine with that." Which is right, but it would be great to see the two of them branch out into movies.
I'll see all of those upcoming movies that Gandolfini has, and I hope for the best...and most of them will probably be good. Either way I'll be satisfied, Cogan's Trade is gonna be epic
on a side note, have you seen Welcome to the Riley's? it stars him and Melissa Leo, I've been meaning to check it out. | Impossible singing assignment (Little Shop of Horrors musical) what should i do? I'm an Asian female, and considered one of the best singers in my class (not because I'm incredible but because everyone else's voices are crappier than mine). My voice character is singer-songwriter, a little bit like Colbie Caillat, Leigh Nash, Brooke White, or Mandy Moore... but when I stretch myself I can also do Tina Arena, Sheryl Crow, or Kelly Clarkson.
I'm working on a Performing Arts Communication degree and I realized too late that it's a terribly shabby program. For junior year examinations my class is doing a musical theatre rendition of Little Shop of Horrors and I have been selected to voice act for the bloodsucking alien plant Audrey-2 solely on the basis that I speak good American English. We're performing on 9 July 2010.
The voice acting dialogues have been a stretch enough for me, but I'm managing. However, I'm supposed to also sing the songs Feed Me and Suppertime, which are normally sung by African American males with a heavy, raspy, bluesy type of voice. My voice is nothing like that, but the director insists.
For YEARS I've tried singing blues-rock type of songs like Tracy Chapman, Alicia Keys, Norah Jones, Gavin DeGraw, Tom Jones, Ray Charles and stuff and I've never sounded good. It's not that I'm being a pussy at this challenge, but logically and realistically it just won't work.
I suggested doing a digitally-engineered recording of Feed Me and Suppertime, because I won't be on stage anyway, it's just the plant puppet lip-syncing to my voice all along, but the director's won't listen to me. They insisted that I sing the songs my style, even if it meant doing it in my original amateur female voice that can't hit the notes right. Especially that Feed Me is supposed to be a live sung dialogue between Audrey-2 and protagonist Seymour. If Seymour doesn't get to lip sync any songs at all, neither does Audrey-2, because if Seymour lip syncs even one then people will notice the discrepancy of quality between the live singing and the lip sync.
Now I am indeed a risk taker, I'm not afraid of learning difficult songs and performing. However, I am not so foolish as to agreeing to sing songs that definitely don't suit my voice. If even the best contestants on Idol are constantly reprimanded by the judges for making poor song choices, imagine what a fool I'd make of myself in the performance (although people can't see me)! Think Ingrid Michaelson singing the hardest Stevie Wonder song.
If there were other good singers on campus, I would totally ask them. The thing is, there's only 40 of us and the ones that aren't atrocious have all been taken for singing characters. I don't have any good singer friends in town either. I'm thinking, post an ad on the internet and pay a professional singer to do it, but we're kinda short on cash.
If you were in my shoes, what would you do to solve the problem?
FYI, we are in Jakarta, Indonesia. Non-English speaking cast, trying to perform a musical in (bad) English. | Wow, you made me laugh - at the situation, and at your funny response to it. I am sure you feel like a fish out of water and frighteningly confused. Well, I suppose there are a couple of ways to go about it. One would be to forget everything you know about Audrey2, disregard any script notes and re-invent the plant completely. You know, a female, man-eating plant may actually work! Become the plant!!! Walk around imagining you have leaves growing from you and that you want nothing more than to eat delicious people. Listen to some female rappers with spunk like Khia.
The other way would be to find a friend that is an electric guitarist or a musician who uses lots of electronics. Have them hook a pedal or effects module between your mic and the soundboard to take it down 2 octaves and give it some gruffiness. It will be weird for you to hear it; you will just have to concentrate on performing the lines convincingly.
Good luck! Maybe you'll carry the show!!! | I'm going to be a dad but I'm TERRIFIED Please Advise 10 Easy Points? I'm 25 I'm an Amateur Boxer and Boxing Trainer I met my wife when we were 15 we been together for 8 years married for 2 years and I Love her with all Heart and I always will. I would ask for because but I really don't know how because everything I have ever got I got by myself I don't I sound like a little pussy because I'm scared but what do I do about this? | First... Congrats!
Second... I know how you feel. My husband was actually the one who wanted to have a baby, so we did plan for one. I was SO scared around the time I was supposed to have him, but so excited too. The day I went into labor it didn't even occur to me that I was gonna be having this baby and there was no stopping it... Until I heard, "you're about ready to push". I don't think I had ever been so nervous in my life. But all of that goes away when you see the baby. Trust me! I'm only 20, we've only been married a year and a half, and we are probably the worst people with money EVER! Lol. But we're doing great.
The little things they do that can make you smile at the worst moments will amaze you. My son just started smiling a couple weeks ago (he's 7 and a half weeks) and I started to get some tears in my eyes when I saw it. The first time he coo'ed... The smile wouldn't leave my face. Today I learned that if I want to take a nap with him next to me, if I let him hold my finger he'll sleep better. Its the little things like that that make being a parent so great.
They grow up SO fast. Parents are always saying how time flies... But you never truly understand until you are one.

I am not going to fight him unless he touches me because i dont want to get expelled (even though id KO him haha) but what is up with MMA fighters? Where does this hatred for boxing come from? I don't diss MMA. i just dont care about it. | Well, just tell your friend that you just can't stand the idea of full mounting another half naked male and leave it at that.
